Children's dentistry
Their first smile. It’s a special moment and we want to make sure every smile is as special as their first.
It’s really important that babies are seen by the dentist, and we suggest at the latest by the age of 1. Even though your child may have no, or only a few, teeth it’s essential to visit the dentist to get oral hygiene and dietary advice to help keep your baby’s teeth healthy as they start to come through.

We understand it can be intimidating, especially if you feel nervous visiting the dentist yourself. Starting to make regular visits from a young age lets your child know there’s nothing to worry about.

At Rectory House we focus on making it a relaxing experience for you both. We will get your child used to our dental practice, sitting in the dentist’s chair and opening wide for a quick examination. We believe that getting to know their dentist is the first step to success with their life long oral health journey.

Your dental team will speak to you about the best ways to care for your child’s teeth. From brushing their teeth twice a day, to a balanced diet (not too many sweets!) and regular check-ups.

Starting out with regular check-ups is a great way to make sure your children see trips to the dentist as routine and part of caring for their smile throughout their lives. It ensures that any small problems are caught before they become bigger problems.

We also offer preventative treatments, such as fluoride varnish and fissure sealants. This is offered to children from 3 to 17 years old. The dentist will discuss these with you at the appointment.
"Tara has been my dentist for over 10 years and has seen my boys since they were little.
She has always been very reassuring with the boys so that a trip to the dentist has never been an anxious experience.
Tara takes a pragmatic approach - recommending works when necessary but in the least intrusive way possible.
I would highly recommend Tara."

This one is using his monster toy to learn how to brush his teeth properly. Not sure what the monster thinks of it!
